In a video that was recently released on the official page of the Rolex Shanghai Masters, all the big names participating in the tournament, namely Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and many more, were asked if they could time travel to one point in history, when it would be and why. It led to some pretty amazing answers by these players.

“The beginning of everything? The Big Bang or something like that?” Zverev said, while Stefanos Tsitsipas said that he would love to visit ancient Greece. World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz had an elaborate answer, though, as he wished to do many things. He wanted to go back to the time when pyramids were built to see how the Egyptians managed to do it. He also wanted to relive the 2010 World Cup, when Spain won the FIFA World Cup.

Ben Shelton wished to see the dinosaurs. “I’d like to go back to the time of the dinosaurs. Yeah, I think it will be a pretty cool sight to see.” Coincidentally, he shared this wish with Casper Ruud, who also gave the same answer. However, the Norwegian international was more concerned about how long he could survive with the dinosaurs. He would do it given the surety of safety.

Daniil Medvedev wished he could go back to the 1920s to see how people used to live back then, while Hip Hop enthusiast Frances Tiafoe wanted to go back to the 90s, when the Hip Hop culture was very ‘extravagant’. Andrey Rublev, on the other hand, would just love to relive his childhood.

Jannik Sinner’s wish was way simpler. He just wanted to go back to the past to spend some time with his friends, just like the old days. “I would like to chose an easy and simple day because I made some very great experiences with my friends. Going to ski, you drink something together. Its a nice moment of being familiar with friends,” he said.

Alcaraz, Ben Shelton and Rublev remain in the fight for the Shanghai Masters title

The 2023 Shanghai Masters is turning out to be an extremely thrilling event, with shocking knockouts taking place almost every other day. Players like Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe have already been eliminated and Carlos Alcaraz, Andrey Rublev, Ben Shelton, Tommy Paul, and Hubert Hurcakz are the only top 20 seed players who remain in the tournament.

Tournament top seed Alcaraz remains the favorite to win this tournament. Moreover, he needs to win it to redeem himself from his back-to-back poor performances in the US Open and the China Open.
