Andrey Rublev lost a winning cause against Jannik Sinner in the semifinal of the 2023 Vienna Open as he gave up a 5-2 lead in the first set of the match. The Russian looked sharp from the very beginning against Sinner and went 5-2 up in no time at all. However, the Italian started to make a comeback from there and Rublev just gave away his lead and ended up losing the match.
In the second round, both the players performed equally well, and it was a neck-to-neck battle. It went to the tie-breaker after 6-6 where Jannik Sinner sealed the deal. Rublev lost despite performing so well throughout the entire match. He was visibly frustrated with each other, especially after losing the first set.

After fumbling up the 5-2 lead, Rublev hit himself with his bat in frustration and ended up cutting himself. He could be seen bleeding on the television as well.
The Russian will now shift his focus to the 2023 Paris Masters, which has already commenced. Just like Novak Djokovic, Casper Ruud, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune and Stefanos Tsitsipas, Rublev has also been let in the Paris Masters and they will start their respective campaigns directly from the Round of 32 on 1st November.
Rublev has won two titles so far in 2023, namely the Swedish Open and the Monte-Carlo Masters. He has a good chance of finishing his season on a high if he proceeds to perform well in the Paris Masters. He has great potential and is also in great shape and form. However, the Russian must work on his consistency and focus and learn to finish matches.
