Carlos Alcaraz leads the 2023 Australian Open entry list that’s also featuring Novak Djokovic while Dominic Thiem misses out

The 2023 season is going to kickstart in about a month. After a series of ATP tournaments, the first Grand Slam of the year, i.e., the Australian Open, will be starting in more than a month. The Australian Open will be played in Melbourne Park, from 16th-29th January.
The Australian Open will see the gathering of the best players in the world. The world will flock Down Under to witness great tennis.
Meanwhile, eminent sports journalist Michael Samulski shared the entry list of male tennis players who will be playing this year.

Top 32 Seeds at the Australian Open 2023

The youngest male World No.1 in the sport, Carlos Alcaraz will kickstart the 2023 season and the tournament as Seed #1. He started the 2022 season as World No.31. The 2022 French Open and defending champion Rafael Nadal is seeded #2. His old rival and 2022 ATP Finals winner Novak Djokovic will be seeded #5.
The new generation players such as Daniil Medvedev, Davis Cup 2022 winner Felix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz, and Hubert Hurkacz are seeded in the top 10. The 2022 Paris Masters winner ‘wonderkid’ Holger Rune has made the biggest jump as he is seeded #11.
Alexander Zverev who is trying to make a comeback this year is seeded #12. He had to miss the entire second half of the 2022 season due to an injury. The crowd-favorite and the 2022 Australian Open men’s doubles champion Nick Kyrgios is seeded #22 in the men’s singles entry list. Tommy Paul of the USA is the last-seeded player on the entry list.
Veterans like Andy Murray, Maxime Cressy, and John Isner are unseeded players on the entry list. Besides the entry list, there is a separate list of alternates for the event. Canadian veteran Vasek Pospisil is ranked 100 but the first choice among ‘Alternates‘. The most interesting name on the Alternates list is 2020 US Open winner Dominic Thiem. He is ranked seventh on the list.
Gael Monfils is the player who has officially withdrawn from the tournament. His absence will disappoint his fans. Another big name that tennis fans will miss in Down Under is 20-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer. He retired in September 2022 after playing his last match at Laver Cup in London.
