Carlos Alcaraz reveals his bigger goals ahead
Carlos Alcaraz and The Big-3
Spanish World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz opened up on his biggest goals ahead and what makes him train harder every day. In a recent interview, he also told that becoming a Grand Slam champion and becoming World No.1 were his biggest dreams before. Now after conquering these, he is thinking about future challenges that require more focus and an even better mentality.
As the talks have already started on the complete game of Alcaraz that will make him one of the best in history, Alcaraz said, “At the US Open I fulfilled my dream of being a Grand Slam winner and No 1, but I am a very ambitious boy who constantly sets goals, Right now, my big challenge is to be one of the best in history. It may sound crazy, but I want to be like the Big Three and that is what motivates me to give the best of myself.”
Alcaraz is currently playing in the Miami Masters and has reached the quarter-finals. He is yet to lose a set this tournament and will face American ninth seed Taylor Fritz in the next round. Alcaraz has to retain the title here to keep the World No.1 ranking as well. The tennis world is looking forward to see how the 19-year-old star will handle the pressure. (Source: Eurosport UK)
Carlos Alcaraz’s record against the Big-3
Alcaraz never got a chance to meet Roger Federer but has at least one win against the other members of Big-3 – Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. He beat both of them in the last matches. Nadal has defeated him twice but Djokovic is yet to win against Alcaraz.
Carlos had a terrific 2022 season – one of the best ever by a teenager in tennis history. Carlos Alcaraz became World No. 1 at 19 years, 4 months, and 7 days, displacing Lleyton Hewitt‘s nearly 21-year-old record of being the youngest at 20 years, eight months, and 26 days. Apart from his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open 2022, Alcaraz collected four other titles in 2022, which include two Masters 1000 tournaments.
Despite missing the Australian Open due to a leg injury, the Spanish wunderkind came back strong to win the Argentina Open last month. Following that, an injured Alcaraz lost in the Rio Open final against Cameron Norrie. Later skipping the Mexico Open, the Spanish teen came back in full force to clinch the Indian Wells Masters defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final. The ATP-1000 masters title also took him back to World No.1.
Alcaraz has started well in Miami and he resumed from where he left off in tennis paradise last week. He will be trying his best to retain the Miami Masters title and the World Number 1 ranking.
