Tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz had an incredible run in the 2022 season as he bagged four ATP titles before winning the grand prize this season. He won the first Grand Slam title of his career in September, i.e., the US Open. It has been close to three months since.

However, the feeling has still not sunk in with the youngest World No.1 in the entire ATP history, Carlos Alcaraz. At just the age of 19 years, he won the Grand Slam title and took the top spot.

The Spaniard is in Abu Dhabi, UAE to play at the World Tennis Championship. In an interview, he shared his views on the victory.

“It sounds like a dream for me. Honestly, there are so many times I think about this year, about my position right now, and I still can’t believe it. I’m thinking, ‘Is this real? I’m No.1 in the world?’ I’m dreaming. It’s something I have to realize someday,” he said.

However, the young champion still has not been able to celebrate his victory with his teammates and family.

“I’m going to have a team dinner with everyone, it’s going to be the best moment of the year,” he added further.

Carlos Alcaraz is looking to reach peak fitness levels before the start of the 2023 season. He would also be assessing his preparations against top players of the world during the event.

Carlos Alcaraz may have had a successful season but he has no time to relax. He is recovering from an injury that he sustained during the Paris Masters 2022. He had to retire from the semi-final round match against eventual winner Holger Rune. Since then he has not played a single match.

The Spaniard also had to miss the 2022 ATP Finals tournament due to his injury. As the 2023 season is going to start in 20 days, Carlos Alcaraz has to find the strength to take on opponents all around the world. After his US Open victory and attaining the top spot things have changed yet they are the same. He also acknowledged this.

“I had so many tournaments and had no time to realize 100 percent the US Open. Of course it was a great feeling for me. All I can say is that nothing changed,” he said.

“Obviously yes, all the people want to beat the No. 1 in the world. I could feel that after the US Open everyone had a target on me and everyone wanted to face me on court. That’s what I have to be prepared for,” he continued.
