“It’s good for tennis” – Fans react to Fabien Reboul and Max Broville sharing a kiss as they reportedly become first openly gay couple on the ATP Tour
Fabien Reboul and Max Broville
Fabien Reboul is a French tennis player who participates in both singles and doubles competitions. He reached his career’s highest rank of No.328 in the ATP singles rankings in 2018. He is currently ranked 1262. He is currently ranked No.54 in the ATP doubles rankings of 2022.
Max Broville is another French tennis player. He achieved his career’s highest rank of No.836 in the ATP singles rankings in 2022. He is currently ranked No.945. Reboul participates with his compatriot Sadio Doumbia in the doubles events. Together they have won 12 ATP challenger titles. The pair got a wildcard entry into the 2022 Paris Masters tournament making their debut at any ATP 1000 tournament.
Fabien Reboul posted a photograph of him and Broville kissing each other on his social media post. Eminent sports journalist Joey Dillion shared Fabien Reboul’s Instagram story in his social media post.
“Looks like we (finally) have LGBTQ+ representation from an active ATP player. Fabien Reboul, the doubles World No. 54, posts this IG story with fellow French player, Max Broville. Note: nothing’s been confirmed from either, but this could be a big step for men’s tennis,” his caption read.
This may be the first time that two active male professional tennis players have come out with such a revelation. However, nothing concrete can be said as the two players have not commented on this photograph.
Social media welcomes the Fabien Reboul and Max Brovill
Many players in the world have revealed their sexual identities. Many have had successful careers. Some even became legends in their respective sport.
Martina Navratilova is a prime example of a person belonging to the LGBTQ+ community doing very well at professional level and now considered a tennis icon. She has won 59 major titles throughout her career. Another former tennis player Amelie Mauresmo also came out in public as a homosexual.
In 2021, on the occasion of Pride Day celebrated at US Open, many tennis players of the current generation such as Daniil Medvedev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Stefanos Tsitsipas had given their support to the LGBTQ+ community.
“I think everybody would be super open if somebody would come out on the ATP Tour. “I think it’s great for the US Open, this initiative,” Medvedev had said congratulating the US Open on celebrating Pride Day.
The legends such as Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic had also given statements in support of the LGBTQ+ community. However, this time the support is coming from social media for the two players. Here are a few reactions coming on the above post.

Fabien Reboul and Max Broville would take heart from all the supporting messages. This would help to erase stigma and fear in the minds of players and they would be able to play freely.
