It is believed that there never is a dull moment in the match when Nick Kyrgios plays and so was the case during the blockbuster third-round clash between Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas at Wimbledon 2022. A lot was expected from this match, especially after so many seeds collapsed in the initial rounds and as always, Kyrgios made sure there was drama in the match.

The match started with each player solid on serve. A few breakpoints were exchanged during the first set but neither player managed to convert it to take a decisive break. At 5-5 in the first set on Tsitsipas’ serve, Kyrgios led by a point and was fancying his chance of getting a break’s advantage but a silly error from the linesman cost him the point. The point had to be replayed and Kyrgios eventually lost the point.

He went on to lose the game and eventually lost the set in the tie-breaker. Ever since that point, Kyrgios started yelling at the chair umpire and first demanded that the linesman be changed. “He has one fucking line to call. It’s annoying. Mistakes every match. At 5 all,” he yelled at the chair umpire during the crossover.

The Australian kept arguing with the umpire throughout the set and due to the lapse in concentration, he played a very ordinary tie-breaker and lost it. Tsitsipas took a very important lead to start the match.

Fans were once again very unhappy with Kyrgios‘ unnecessary drama. They pointed out that he is overreacting on a normal lines call and for that, he is demanding that the chair umpire be removed for not taking proper action- which is very unreasonable.
