Despite his good form at the Indian Wells Masters so far, the veteran has been struggling with ear issues. Stan Wawrinka has revealed that one of his ears is completely blocked, which has been making him uncomfortable on court. Although, the three-time Grand Slam champion clarified that it was not a big issue, yet he believes it could be a hindrance going further into the tournament.

Stan Wawrinka will have to be at his absolute best against the seventh seed Holger Rune in the third round. The Dane has not had the best start to the year, after his dream run at the Paris Masters a couple of months ago.

Following his second round victory, Stan Wawrinka revealed that his ear issues have been persistent since a few days. “I’ve just had some ear problems for a few days, like I can’t hear from it, it’s completely blocked. Although, it’s not a big deal, it’s just not easy to only have one ear and to feel completely free on the court,” he said.

Stan Wawrinka has shown glimpses of returning to his best in the past couple of weeks. The Swiss managed to reach the quarterfinals in Rotterdam and at the Open 13. The 2014 Australian Open champion has struggled with injuries and poor form for the past couple of years, but he remains optimistic about his fate this season.

Stan Wawrinka has also entered himself in the Men’s Doubles Event, where he will be teaming up with Frances Tiafoe. The pair received a bye in the first round, and are scheduled for their second round encounter on Monday.
