Iga Swiatek features on the cover of Forbes among the influential Top 100 Polish Women of the year following a sensational 2022 season

World No 1 Iga Swiatek has been one of the consistent performers as she went on to clinch two Grand Slam singles titles and six WTA titles in the year. She created history by becoming the fourth player in the Open Era to maintain her claim as the No. 1 for 30 weeks. Swiatek achieved another feat as she has been featured on the cover page of the Forbes Women of Polish edition.
She was the dominant player in most of the tournaments on the WTA Tour, especially during the clay season where she 18-match winning streak until her loss at the Poland Open. She also had a 37-match winning streak until her third loss at Wimbledon. She has also been nominated in the category of Female Player of the Year at the 2022 WTA Awards for her breakthrough performances.
She is the first player representing Poland to win a major singles title when she first won the French Open in 2020. She has won a total of 11 WTA Tour-level titles. Iga Swiatek finds herself featured on the cover page of the Forbes Women in the Polish edition of the magazine. The list also includes a hundred other Polish Women of the Year who have played a crucial part in bringing laurels to the country.
She has always proved her worth as a true leader in supporting Ukraine ever since the War broke out and even advocated her power of being the leader of women’s tennis in the right ways. She strongly voiced her opinions regarding the latest scandal in the Polish Tennis Association where the association’s president was accused of a history of violence and sexual assault for which she was hugely appreciated.
Iga Swiatek enters the 2023 Australian Open as the top-seed player
The 21-year-old from Poland has gone on to create records throughout the year as she has managed to cement her place in the history of tennis. Iga Swiatek has created an astonishing record by winning 22 bagels (winning a set 6-0)this season. The last one was at the WTA Finals against American World No.7 Coco Gauff. This is only second to the most number of bagels in a season recorded by Serena Williams in the year 2013 which was 25 bagels.
The Polish ended the year with 11000 ranking points this season and became the s second player to achieve this feat other than the 23-Grand Slam champion. This difference itself shows the dominance the Polish had on the tour this season as she registered a 67-9 win-loss record.
Iga Swiatek is the player with the most Top-10 wins with a tally of 15. She claimed the top spot with the sudden retirement of Ashleigh Barty earlier this year. The 3-time Grand Slam champion is the top-seed player at 2023 Australian Open and will be looking to continue her great form after having a commendable season in 2022.
