Raducanu will be facing Camila Osorio in the next round of the Citi Open and she will be looking to book her place in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Talking about her victory, Raducanu said, “Definitely feels really good to get a win here in D.C., And after not playing for quite a bit after Wimbledon or many matches at all this year, I think it’s a really nice feeling just to get on the board. I think playing any first round is always pretty challenging. Then when you’re not necessarily that match-sharp, small things you don’t necessarily get right. It’s just important to stay calm.”
The young Brit will be defending 2000 points at the end of this month as the US Open is right around the corner, and with new coach Dmitry Tursunov, Raducanu will be looking to defend her title and repeat her fairy tale run from last year. With immense pressure on her, Raducanu has successfully won the first match of the Citi Open and she will be looking to keep her run going and go all the way to win the title.
