Italian tennis ace Jannik Sinner looked in discomfort during his quarterfinal match at the 2024 Australian Open against Andrey Rublev. The 22-year-old seemed to be having some problems with his stomach during the second set. Sinner clutched his stomach on multiple occasions.

While the Italian managed to sail though as he beat Rublev in straight sets of 6-4 7-6(5) 6-3 at the Rod Laver Arena, Sinner facing issues with his stomach came as a sign of worry. The youngster will be up against ten-time champion Novak Djokovic in the semifinals and thus will have to be at his level best to be able to challenge his opponent.

In such a scenario, a small niggle can also hinder the player’s concentration. Hence, many are worried about Sinner’s stomach issue. But as it turns out, it is not as big a concern as the fans thought, the player himself has revealed. Sinner revealed that it was just a momentary problem which was most probably due to a bit of air.

[I think] there was a bit of air [in my stomach. I don’t know what exactly it [was], so we have to check. Maybe it was something I ate before the match. It went away with a bit of time, and in the third set, I didn’t feel anything anymore. Hopefully, it’s going to be okay.

I’m really lucky to face him again. This is one of the biggest tournaments in the world, happy that I can play against the number one in the world – he's won here some times – but it’s going to be tough. The only thing I can control is that I will give 100 per cent and fight for every ball. We’ll see what the outcome will be.
