Rafael Nadal with his 2022 French Open trophy

Rafael Nadal asserted his dominance in the Stade Roland Garros for yet another time as he defeated Casper Ruud 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 in the finals of the 2022 French Open. This was his 14th French Open title and his 22nd Grand Slam title extending his lead at the top in the race for most Grand Slam singles won.

Over the course of the tournament, it had not been an easy journey for the Spaniard as he was coming fresh from his injury in the right foot and had a tough draw at his hand in a top-heavy draw. Nevertheless, he did not drop his standards and continued to dominate opponents dropping only 3 sets in the tournament, two sets against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the 4th round and once against Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals.
