Former American tennis Martina Navratilova is furious. This time over the English broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson’s comments on the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle. Mr. Clarkson is the host and presenter of the BBC hit show-Top Gear.
The American tennis legend took to social media to share her thoughts. She also shared a news article published in the American news website The Huffington Post.
Mr. Clarkson issued some statements in the press which were not taken positively by the media. This led to many people’s sentiments being hurt. When the Top Gear presenter came to know about this, he regretted his statements. However, he refused to issue an apology.
This infuriated Martina Navratilova, and she also criticized Mr. Clarkson.
Martina Navratilova schooled a journalist for his views on women
The Czech-born American Martina Navratilova is famous for her prowess on the court. The American won 59 major titles throughout her career. Her on-court rivalry with Chris Evert, Monica Seles, and Stefi Graf is also legendary. All four ladies lighted up women’s tennis in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
After retirement, she has tried to give her honest and often not-so-humble opinions on different issues that may perturb her. She was known for her unflinching attitude on the court and seems she has carried it on. She does not shy away from criticizing people who are in power.
The 4-time US Open champion has repeatedly criticized Former President Donald Trump and Twitter boss Elon Musk for their remarks. She had also in previous social media posts, criticized Kanye West for his anti-semitic remarks which pressurized the sportswear giant Adidas to cancel their deal with the American rapper.
The 9-time Wimbledon champion is also very vocal about human rights issues and rights, particularly women. She criticized the Supreme Court of the USA to make laws terminating women’s rights to abortion. At the same time, she had appealed to the legislators not to enforce strict abortion laws but she failed. However, this did not depress her one bit.
Nevertheless, she continues to raise her voice for the rights of women and their dignity. A few days back, she took to social media to shout out against the views of a journalist, Andrew Anglin. She criticized him for his remarks against women.
Martina Navratilova continues to be an important voice for the people who want her support on issues that matter most to society. She continues to be a brave advocate of personal freedom and liberty.
