Former American legend Martina Navratilova has inspired millions of people in her career of almost four decades. Apart from her involvement in tennis, she has actively participated in various political debates and discussions. This time, she bashed a renowned journalist Andrew Anglin for his chauvinist remarks.
Even after facing constant criticism for her harsh words, she never pays any heed to them. She believes in preaching what she believes in. The former American legend has always advocated for gender equality and stood up for equal rights for LGBTQ+ community individuals. She has always believed in exercising the power of freedom of speech which she rightly does often through her social media posts.
Journalist Anglin revealed that women at 25 years of age start searching for their partners. He stated that until the woman is attractive, the family readily accepts them. Anglin further added that women should know about everything that will supposedly happen to them. This did not go down well with the former 18-time Grand Slam champion. Navratilova called him a loser to have such thoughts in the 21st century.
She took to her social media account on Twitter to share her unfiltered opinion. Her post was like “Speaking of losers… who is this asswipe?“
Martina Navratilova expressed her happiness over Brittney Griner’s release from the Russian prison
She had openly bashed former US President George W. Bush for poor management, which forced her to opt for dual citizenship and become a Czech resident once again. However, she appreciated and thanked former President Barack Obama for accepting Gay marriages when half of the country was against the community. The former Australian Open champion supported WNBA star Brittney Griner while she was in a Russian prison. For carrying banned substances into the country, Griner had been arrested at the Moscow airport in February 2022.
The former tennis player urged the government for getting their star back home. She pointed out the bad conditions in the Russian prison for Griner. After nine months, the basketball star was back home on a 1-on-1 prisoner exchange. Navratilova got overwhelmed and went to thank Biden for making it possible. It was another incredible win for her activism that she does via her social media accounts to speak for issues around the entire world.
She has never denied sexual orientation which had been quite a shocker for many. The former Wimbledon champion came out to admit to being a lesbian herself. Since the 1980s, Martina Navratilova has battled decades of discrimination and unjust behavior but has never backed down from demanding equal rights for many like her.
