Carlos Alcaraz has received a bye in the first round, as he could face Ben Shelton in the second round. The top seed has been handed a relatively comfortable draw as his first biggest test could come in the quarterfinals against Holger Rune. 15th seed Hubert Hurkacz will face Alexander Bublik in a mouth-watering first-round clash in Montreal.

The Polish tennis player has a huge serve up his sleeve and could cause a few upsets in his side of the draw. Being the fourth seed, Holger Rune has also received a bye in the first round. He could face a stiff challenge in the form of Tommy Paul in the third round. However, the Dane should comfortably book a place in the quarterfinals.

First Quarterfinal Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz vs Holger Rune

Second Quarter

Stefanos Tsitsipas has been handed a tricky draw at the Montreal Open. After receiving a bye in the first round, he could face Christopher Eubanks in the second round, who he defeated in the fourth round at Wimbledon. In the third round, the fourth seed could face Sebastian Korda or Grigor Dimitrov, which only makes his draw tougher. In the lower half of the second quarter, Felix Auger Aliassine, Matteo Berrettini, Andy Murray, and Jannik Sinner are some of the big names. Jannik Sinner could meet his fellow countryman Matteo Berrettini in the second round itself.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray has a first-round clash with Lorenzo Songeo, as the winner could face 10th seed Felix Auger Aliassime. We expect Jannik Sinner to come through the lower half of the second quarter despite a few tricky matches. On the other hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas should manage his way past a couple of tough matches to book a last-eight berth as well.

Second Quarterfinal Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Jannik Sinner

Third Quarter

Andrey Rublev leads the third quarter as he has received a bye in the opening round. He has been handed a relatively easier draw, with his first test coming in the third round against Frances Tiafoe. The American has a challenging draw, as he opens his campaign against the big-serving Canadian and home favorite Milos Raonic.

Alexander Zverev has already claimed the first title of his season in Hamburg and looks a much-relaxed player now. He could face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the second round, with a potential third-round meeting against third seed Casper Ruud. We expect the Norwegian to book a place in the quarterfinals, due to his better record off late on this surface.

Third Quarter Final Prediction: Casper Ruud vs Andrey Rublev

Taylor Fritz leads the first half of the bottom quarter. The eighth seed could face Cameron Norrie in the third round, and should comfortably book a spot in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev also has a good draw on his hands, with his first real challenge coming in the form of Taylor Fritz in the last eight. The Russian could face Lorenzo Musetti in the third round, who is not known to be a consistent player on hard courts.

Fourth Quarter Final Prediction: Taylor Fritz vs Daniil Medvedev

Semifinals

Carlos Alcaraz should win the first quarterfinals against Holger Rune, whereas, Jannik Sinner should defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the other quarterfinals. This sets up a dream semifinal clash between the two biggest rivals in the sport at the moment. Jannik Sinner has shown that he has the qualities to put the Spaniard on the backfoot more often than not, as the two have played out some incredible matches in the past year. Nevertheless, given his current form, Carlos Alcaraz should win in three sets.

Casper Ruud has proven to be one of the most consistent players on the tour in the past 12 months. He should do just enough to defeat Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals to set up a last-four clash with Daniil Medvedev. The second-seeded Russian returns to the surface where he has achieved most success, hence it would not be a surprise to see him reach the finals.

Final Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz vs Daniil Medvedev

At the moment, not many players can stop Carlos Alcaraz. The 20-year-old is coming fresh off his victory against Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon finals, and he will be eager to defend his title at the US Open next month. The Spaniard should score a straight-sets victory over Daniil Medvedev in the finals to capture yet another title in 2023.
