Pat Cash went to Mallorca, Spain to play an exhibition match with Boris Becker. However, at the very last moment the Swedish tennis legend withdrew from the match. At that moment, organizers made the 1987 Wimbledon champion agree to play against a 14-year-old boy.

Pat Cash did not take the boy seriously and decided that he would lose first few games deliberately to make the kid happy. However, to his astonishment, he lost that match in straight sets. After the match he went up to him and asked his name. He answered “Rafael Nadal“.

This story was told by eminent journalist Luigi Gatto in his social media post.

To this post, Nick Kyrgios made a hilarious reply.

“Doesn’t really surprise me at all, pat cash wouldn’t win games now,” his caption read.

Nick Kyrgios is trying to recover from a knee injury. He missed out on some very important tournaments including the United Cup, Adelaide International 2 and Australian Open tournaments this season.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion started his career on a great note. He turned pro in 2001. He won his first Grand Slam title, i.e., the French Open title in 2005 at the age of 19 years. He soon became one of the most dominant forces on the court.

Over the course of 22 years, Rafael Nadal went on to become one of the most celebrated tennis players in the world. But in all these years, he also had to face numerous injuries and undergo multiple surgeries. However, despite an injury-prone career, he managed to win so many Grand Slam titles.

In 2022, commentators and former tennis players had excused the Spaniard because of his growing injury list. However, he won the Australian Open 2022 by beating Daniil Medvedev in the final despite losing the first two sets. Subsequently, he won the French Open 2022 by defeating Casper Ruud in the final.

However, in 2023, his fate took a downward turn. Not only he is reeling under the immense pain with his old injuries resurfacing at the Australian Open 2023. He was knocked out in the second round by Mackenzie McDonald. This has raised doubts over his participation in the upcoming tournaments this season.
