Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner, the-20-year-old Italian professional displayed excellent performances at this year’s Wimbledon, beating Stan Wawrinka, Mikael Ymer, John Isner, and Carlos Alcaraz as he made his way into the quarter-finals of the event. The Italian however, fell short in defeating one of the greatest players of all time in Novak Djokovic who was the eventual winner of the tournament.
The match against Carlos Alcaraz really made Sinner more confident and hopeful that he can pull an upset off against Djokovic, Sinner started off the match as he intended to as he won the first two sets but Djokovic pulled the game from the hold of defeat to win the match 5-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
“I didn’t collapse,” Jannik Sinner insists that Novak Djokovic had to up his game to defeat him

In a recent interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Sinner opened up on his quarter-final loss to Novak Djokovic at this year’s Wimbledon, Sinner talked about how he approached the dramatic defeat as Djokovic made an almost impossible comeback and booked himself a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
In the interview, Sinner said, “I think about it, of course, and after a few days of bad temper, I tried to look at the positive side. Nole had to raise the level to the maximum, otherwise, it would have ended differently. In the end, it almost seems that I have collapsed, but no, it is he who has taken me to another dimension. I thought back to the defeat to Djokovic that I didn’t collapse, but he entered another dimension. I’m growing up. And in New York, I want to go all the way.”
Sinner is currently competing at the Croatia Open where he beat Spaniard Jaume Munar and booked his ticket in the quarter-finals of the event, he is scheduled to face Roberto Carballes Baena today. Sinner last beat Baena when both of them competed against each other at the Roland Garros this year.
