Rafael Nadal rewarded the 'Real Road' award by the King of Spain

Rafael Nadal got eliminated in the fourth round of the 2022 US Open after losing to Frances Tiafoe in 4-sets. He is considered one of the greatest players of all time, especially with his 22 singles Grand Slam titles to his kitty. He had a great 2022 season and was undefeated in all the matches at the Grand Slam until the US Open debacle. He had entered New York with a 20-0 win-loss record at the Grand Slams.

The University of Spain rewarded him with the “Real Road” award for his exemplary contribution to the sport and for putting Spain on the world map for so many years along with his philanthropic works through his organization ‘The Rafael Nadal Foundation‘ which inspires youth to realize their dreams and work towards it in Spain and other countries beyond Spain. The Spaniard shared this incredible news on his social media account extending his gratitude to everyone as he received the award from the ‘King of Spain‘.

Through his post on his social media account on Instagram, he shared a few pictures of the felicitation ceremony and went on to thank the members of the Advisory Council, the selection committee, the Director, and members of the Franklin High School Academic Council for bestowing such honor for which he will always be faithful and honored.

Rafael Nadal has a great 2022 season despite his injuries

Rafael Nadal had already won two singles Grand Slam titles and was looking for his third title of the year. He had a chance at Wimbledon for achieving his third title as well as achieving a calendar Grand Slam but it ended with his abdominal injury during the quarter-final match against Taylor Fritz which was a major setback for him with his fitness levels during the North-American swing.

He had a chance at the US Open for regaining back the top spot but that was quashed after his fourth-round loss. Nadal had to skip the second half of the 2021 season due to his foot injury. He has been dealing with a lot of injuries for quite a time especially when he revealed about taking anesthesia injections prior to his matches at the French Open to ease the pain and be able to play his best game.
