Novak Djokovic was at his mercurial best in Australia as he went on to win both the Adelaide International 1 and the Australian Open 2023 tournaments. This has not only helped him to gain multiple ranking points but also helped him to climb upwards in the ATP rankings 2023. He is current World No.1.

The Serbian has also gained many fans in the process. Rennae Stubbs who was very happy when the 22-time Grand Slam champion received approval from the Federal Government of Australia to play at the Australian Open 2023, last year, celebrated his victory at Melbourne Park.

She has complimented the Serbian for his magnificent and dominant performance in the first Grand Slam of the season. In her latest podcast episode, The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast, she talked about the chances younger generation have in a best of five sets tennis tournament against the Serb.

“I know it’s really hard to do once these young guys like Alcaraz, Rune and others start to really believe in themselves over five sets. It is obvious that Alcaraz believes in it since he won the US Open last year. In five sets, that’s the future. The guys believe they can beat Djokovic because they did it in three sets. And he can have a day off, but have a day off in five sets… Even if you have a day off, you can always come back. So over five sets, Novak is simply unbeatable. For now,” she said.

Novak Djokovic is a force to reckon with on the court. The 22-time Grand Slam champion has been able to deliver remarkable performances day after day in the tournaments. His performance at the recently concluded Australian Open has shut down his critics. However, the questions are being asked about the performances of the younger generation players against the Serbian.

Holger Rune is one name that comes in everyone’s mind when we talk about the players to watch out for in the future. He was able to beat Novak Djokovic in the final of the Paris Masters 2023. The Serbian was the defending champion in this tournament. However, that was a best of three set tournament.

Although, contemporary players have given some impressive performances against the 10-time Australian Open champion, no player in the younger generation has been able to defeat him in the Grand Slam tournaments in last one year. Rafael Nadal is the only player to have defeated him in the Quarter-final round of the French Open 2022.

Hence, this question arises if the younger generation players have in them to be able to beat the 22-time Grand Slam champion, especially when he is in such tremendous form.
