Former tennis player Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players who has left behind his legacy with his hard work, determination, grit and resilience. His journey from a ball boy in Swiss Basel to one of the legends of the sport is the best example of dedication and patience and proves that dreams do come true. He recalled the awkward moment when had walked down to the court during the Wimbledon in 2012 with King Charles and his wife Camila in the Royal Box.
He retired from the competitive sport with 20 singles Grand Slam titles and numerous other accolades and achievements in his career that lasted 24 long years. He has inspired millions to take up the sport and has also been an inspiration to many. He played his final match at the Laver Cup along with his arch-rival Rafael Nadal in the doubles match. His farewell was one of the most emotional nights in the history of tennis.
The Swiss maestro talked about how they had been briefed earlier about the presence of the Royal Family and had to bow in front of them in respect. He admitted that they were expected to behave in a particular manner and couldnot do anything stupid infront of them. Federer and Fognini stood side by side as they bowed awkwardly toward the royals, and Charles responded with a wave and grin.
“They do brief you beforehand. I guess you don’t do anything stupid. You behave. Obviously, we were asked to bow, which is obviously no problem to do. We’re thrilled for the tennis family that they came to watch Wimbledon today,” said Roger Federer during an interview. In 2012, he was already a 16-time Grand Slam champion and eventually went on to win his 17th Grand Slam title and 7th Wimbledon title.
Roger Federer became the highest paid tennis player in 2022 despite not being on the Tour

The Swiss legend had played his last singles match in 2012 at Wimbledon and underwent a knee surgery which kept him out of action for months. Despite not playing a single match in 2022, he became the highest-paid tennis player in the list released by Forbes. Roger Federer is ranked 7th on the list of the Top-50 highest-paid athletes.
He earned $90.7 million this year out of which, $700K came from his on-court earnings while the rest has been his brand deals and endorsement. Roger Federer is still the most most marketable tennis player despite being retired. Despite Rafael Nadal winning two Grand Slams of the year and having a great year, he failed to make the cut into the Top 50.
Although Novak Djokovic had a rough year due to his unvaccinated status, he had managed to make a perfect ending to the year winning three out of the four consecutive finals. He took away the hefty prize money for being the unbeaten champion at the Year-end Championship but still failed to make it to this year’s cut off by Forbes that was set at $37.6M.
