Taylor Fritz participated in the Pre-Miami Open event, where Pickleball was also played. However, Taylor Fritz denied the same, claiming that Pickleball was a much easier sport as compared to tennis. He clarified that he did not intend to disrespect the sport, and does not see himself taking up the sport as a full time career option.
“You looked pretty good on the pickleball court,” said Amritraj, “My question is, have you put in much time on the pickleball court?. No disrespect to pickleball players, but pickleball’s way easier,” laughed the American,” responded Fritz.
“It’s an easy transition with tennis,” Taylor Fritz on Pickleball
Taylor Fritz believes that Pickleball could be an easy transition with tennis, and he would continue playing the sport whenever he gets an opportunity. The likes of Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and John McEnroe will all compete in the Pickleball Slam to be held in Miami next month. The American also spoke about his interest in golf among other activities.
“Once you understand the rules and what to do, it’s an easy transition with tennis,” he added. “I’ll play here and there, but (I have) golf and other stuff that I like to do,” said Fritz.
Taylor Fritz failed to defend his Indian Wells Masters title, as he was knocked out in the quarterfinals by Jannik Sinner in three sets. The American is currently competing at the Miami Masters, where he has managed to reach the last 16. He will face the Dane prodigy Holger Rune for a place in the last eight on Tuesday.
