Thanasi Kokkinakis has become a pretty famous personality on the ATP Tour in the last couple of years. Recently, the Australian sent the tennis fans into a frenzy after his comments on 2023 Australian Open runner-up Elena Rybakina. The Kazakh tennis player won the Indian Wells after she defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the finals, which was a replay of the Australian Open final from a couple of months ago.
Thanasi Kokkinakis called Elena Rybakina one of the nicest girls on his Twitter handle, which instantly sparked a lot of interest from the fans. The Australian had to later clarify his tweet, stating that he had no intentions of dating the Indian Wells Open champion.
“Rybakina looks like the nicest girl ever,” Kokkinakis had tweeted. After receving an overwhelming reaction from the fans, the Australian cheekily clarified his comments on the same. “Not having a crack. relaaaax,” he tweeted later.

Thanaski Kokkinakis’ tweet on Elena Rybakina was an instant hit amongst the tennis fans. Fans even urged the Australian to consider dating the Wimbledon 2022 champion, as they could make a great couple.
Elena Rybakina had a great run at the 2023 Indian Wells, where she defeated pre-tournament favorite Iga Swiatek in the semifinals. The Kazakh also avenged her 2023 Australian Open final defeat, as she got the better of Aryna Sabalenka to claim the title. The first set was a much closely fought affair, as Elena Rybakina won the tiebreaker by a score-line of 13-11. The 23-year-old earned a vital break in the second set which helped her close out the game, and win her maiden WTA 1000 title.
