Toni Nadal reveals the potential location where Rafael Nadal will retire
Toni Nadal recently speculated on Rafael Nadal's potential retirement, and chances at the French Open amid injury concerns.
Toni Nadal, Rafael Nadal‘s uncle and former coach, has made some predictions about his final tennis tournament. For almost 20 years, Nadal has dominated the game. He recently earned the title of the most amount of weeks spent in the Top 10 of the ATP rankings. Rumors of the 36-year-old’s impending retirement have also been circulating.
The Spaniard himself has consistently claimed that he has no plans to retire. In addition, Nadal has also been plagued with injuries for the past few years. Toni has delegated Madrid or Paris as one of the places where Nadal could retire. As the 14-time French Open champion and Spanish player, these tournaments seem to be viable options.
Nadal’s former coach stated that given his history, no one can guarantee that he won’t experience additional medical issues in the future. From this vantage position, achieving another Grand Slam may seem like an impossible task, but the Spaniard has previously demonstrated that there are no boundaries in his eyes.
“In Madrid or at Roland Garros. The time will come and he will decide. When you lift a trophy you convince yourself that you still have something to give. It’s hard to retire winning.” said Nadal, in conversation with Marca. He also compared his nephew to Pete Sampras and his retirement. According to him, retirement, while still being in form, ‘doesn’t suit him’.
All this is mere speculation, as Toni hasn’t had many conversations with the former World No. 1 regarding the matter. Currently, Nadal is gearing up for the upcoming clay season. Rafa hopes to clinch another title in Paris as he is training vigorously for his comeback. Nadal has been on a break after sustaining a hip injury in Melbourne.

Nevertheless, he has set his sights on dominating the clay season. Known as the king of clay, Nadal will surely win a few titles as he has been training extensively to achieve full fitness.
According to his uncle, Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic will be the player’s biggest rivals at the Roland Garros. “Alcaraz is at a very high level and is in the improvement phase. I think he will be these between the two rivals” elaborated Nadal.
