She hurt her ankle and was seen lying on the court in agony after the fall. Trailing 0-1,30-30 in the first set, Saville held her left knee and was very vocal in her reaction to the pain. A concerned Osaka acted immediately; fetching a towel and running straight towards her ailing opponent.

The Australian received immediate treatment and was able to get up and walk. On first glance, the nature of the injury looked serious but after getting treatment, the sight was much pleasant. But she made the right call and decided it’s better not to continue and retired from the match.

Later, Saville tweeted an update that she’ll get an MRI scan tomorrow and hoped that her injury isn’t ACL. “Can we all pray it’s not ACL getting MRI tomorrow,” she tweeted.
