Elena Rybakina vs. Qinwen Zheng: Match Preview
Rybakina has had a great season so far. The 24-year-old won two titles at the Indian Wells as well as at Rome. She also made it to the Finals at the Australian Open where she lost to current World No.1, Aryna Sabalenka, following a thrilling encounter. The Kazakh also reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon but lost the round to sixth seed, Ons Jabeur, with a score of 7-6, 4-6, 1-6. Rybakina pulled out of the WTA 500 event in Tokyo since she did not receive her well-deserved performance bye.
Qinwen Zheng, meanwhile, made it to the quarter-finals at the US Open recently. Earlier, she also won the title at the Palermo Open. On Friday, the 20-year-old clinched a gold medal in the Women’s singles category at the ongoing Asian Games.
Elena Rybakina vs. Qinwen Zheng: Match Prediction
Since Zheng will be entering the China Open immediately after her 1st position finish at the Asian Games, she will be confident about facing the World No.5 for the second time in her career. Zheng is known for her incredible sense of the game and her aggressive and powerful smashes.
Former Wimbledon champ, Elena Rybakina on the other hand, has some powerful groundstrokes up her sleeve. However, Zheng might find it a bit easier to defeat Rybakina since the player is not very swift on the court for a long time and she might find it slightly harder to battle players who keep up on their feet.
The duo’s head-to-head score stands at 1-0, with Rybakina leading the Chinese. The Kazakh thrashed Zheng at the Wimbledon in 2022, eventually claiming the title. This time around, the 20-year-old might be looking forward to exacting her revenge on Elena Rybakina.
Match Prediction: Elena Rybakina to win over three sets.
