The 2021 Cincinnati Open will get back to normalcy as the action will once again move to Mason, Ohio, where the originally the tournament is staged. Given the unprecedented situation of 2021, due to Covid-19, the whole event was moved to the Flushing Meadows, in New York in 2020.

That said, the Western and Southern Open will be back with a bang and is set to get underway on August 15 and will conclude on August 22, a week before the 2021 US Open.

The Cincinnati Open will also see a packed roster, as leading players from both the men’s and women’s tour will convene in the Midwest of the United States of America.

Currently, the men’s field will be led by World No.1 Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev and Rafael Nadal. Not surprisingly, seven-time Cincinnati champion Roger Federer too will be seen in action. Interestingly, it was at Cincinnati, where the Serb completed his full set of ATP Masters 1000 title a few years ago, by beating the Swiss maestro. The 20-time Grand Slam winner is also the defending champion, after beating Canada’s Milos Raonic in the 2020 finals.

Meanwhile, number three seed, Nadal too has tasted success at the Southern and Western Open, back in 2013, where he completed the full US Open series, by winning Montreal, Cincinnati and the US Open.  

Barring the big-three and Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Matteo Berrettini and Stefanos Tsitsipas too will be seen in action.

As far as the women’s rosters goes, top-ranked Ash Barty will make her presence felt, along with four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka and Aryna Sabalenka. Injured Simona Halep too will be making her return to the tour, ahead of the final Grand Slam of the year.

Two-time champion Serena Williams will also be seen warming up, ahead of the US Open. On the other hand, defending women’s champion Victoria Azarenka has also entered the roster.
