Patrick McEnroe declares Novak Djokovic as the Greatest Of All Times after his win at the Rolex Paris Masters 2021
Patrick McEnroe, the youngest brother of American tennis legend John McEnroe has declared Novak Djokovic as the Greatest male tennis player of all time.
Patrick, a former tennis player himself, was the captain of the United States Davis Cup Team between 2001 and 2010. Under his leadership, the team went on to become champions in 2007. During his active professional career, Patrick had reached a career-high ranking of no. 28 in singles and no. 3 in doubles. Partnering with Jim Grabb, he won the men’s doubles title at the 1989 French Open. Post-retirement, he has been active on the broadcasting front, working first for CBS, and then ESPN.

On Saturday, world no. 1 Novak Djokovic defeated 10th ranked Hubert Hurkacz in the semifinals of the Rolex Paris Masters 2021. With this win, he secured a record 7th year-end world no. 1 ranking, one that he previously shared with Pete Sampras. With this win, the Serb was scheduled to meet Daniil Medvedev in the finals, finally getting a chance to avenge his defeat at the US Open finals. Excited for this thrilling final, McEnroe had tweeted “I’m thinking it’s 51-49 to Novak”. He even dubbed the final bout a “monster match” .
Patrick McEnroe reinforced his belief in Djokovic, tweeting mid-match “Looks like Nole Time now”.
Djokovic didn’t let the American down and fought back from a one-set deficit. Despite losing the first set 4-6, he bounced back, winning the match and the tournament in 6-3 6-3. With this win, he scripted history, becoming the first man to win 37 Masters 1000 titles. Furthermore, he improved on his own record of 5 Paris Masters titles, winning a record 6th one. The next on the list are Boris Becker and Marat Safin with three each.
It was a great week for Novak Djokovic, who came in straight from the Flushing Meadows to pick up his 86th title. Having cemented a plethora of records, from tomorrow, he will be starting his 346th week atop the ATP rankings. For this string of achievements, Patrick McEnroe proclaimed Novak as the Greatest male player of all times in his latest tweet.
