Aryna Sabalenka vs Alison Riske : Preview
Aryna Sabalenka continues from where she left off from Berlin as she wins her first round match 6-3, 6-4 in just over an hour to register her debut Grass win in the Singles event. Her week in Berlin did not start well but it ended well with a doubles title clinched along with Olympics partner Victoria Azarenka.
Sabalenka looked at her usual best in her first round victory and will hope to go the distance this week in Eastbourne before she enters the Wimbledon 2021 which begins in less than a week’s time now.
Alison Riske registers her 2nd Grass win of the season as she battles past Veronika Kudermetova 6-3, 6-4 in just under the 1.5 hour mark to advance into the Round of 16 for a second consecutive tournament after making her Grass debut at the 2021 Nottingham Open.
Riske had reached the Round of 16 at the Nottingham Open as well but lost in a close 3-set encounter denying her a chance to go further ahead in the competition as all players set their eyes at the upcoming Grand Slam in Wimbledon.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Alison Riske : Head to Head
This will be the 4th meeting between the duo and 1st meeting on the Grass. The duo have faced twice on Hardcourts and once on Clay with all 3 matches being won by Aryna who leads the head-to-head tie 3-0.
Aryna Sabalenka vs Alison Riske : Prediction
Alison Riske will come into the clash with a career Grass record of 79-33 and an overall season record of 2-4 after missing the majority of the tournaments due to injuries. She is winless on Clay since 2018 and has looked poor this season but with good wins on Grass, she will be confident coming into this tie as she seeks her maiden win against Aryna.
Aryna will come into the clash with a career Grass record of 17-12 and an overall season record of 28-9. With a successful week in Berlin she will be confident of her chances as the top-seeded player in Eastbourne and will also be the favourite for this clash against Riske.
Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka to win in straight-sets.
