Coming into the tournament, Schwartzman has been in terrific touch and has performed consistently throughout the season. The 28-year old Argentine capped off the clay court season in style as he made it to the quarterfinals of the French Open 2021, where he went down fighting to Rafael Nadal in four sets 3-6, 6-4, 4-6, 0-6. However, Schwartzman hasn’t played any tournament on grass before coming for the Wimbledon and it would be interesting to see how he adapts to an altogether different surface.

Quite opposite to Schwartzman with regards to the form is Paire, who has failed to breach the first round barrier in the last two events that he has participated. The 32-year old Frenchman after bowing out in the Round of 128 at Roland Garros, did not manage to clear the hurdle at Queen’s Club Championships too, making a first round exit in straight sets 3-6, 2-6 against 3-time Major winner Andy Murray. This can serve as a huge blow for Paire as the Queen’s Club Championships act as a preparatory tournament for the ultimate showdown at Wimbledon.
