The two highest ranked players in the tournament- Jannik Sinner and Gael Monfils will battle it out in the final. Sinner, who is looking to defend his title has been in amazing form this week. After winning the Washington Open post Wimbledon, he reached the Round of 16 of the US Open where he lost to Alexander Zverev.
He is yet to lose a set this week at Sofia. He beat the likes of Egor Gerasimov and James Duckworth in the Round of 16 and quarterfinals respectively before getting the better of Filip Krajinovic in the semifinal.
After a poor run for the majority of the season, Frenchman Gael Monfils has finally found his lost form. After a third round outing at the US Open, Monfils reached the semifinal of the Moselle Open where he lost to Pablo Carreno Busta. This week, he directly played the quarterfinals and beat Gianluca Mager in straight sets.
It is to be noted that Monfils got a bye and a walkover in the first two rounds. In the semifinal, he blasted past Marcos Giron in straight sets 7-5,6-0. Monfils has now reached a tour final every year since 2005.
