Kei Nishikori and Mai Yamauchi

Kei Nishikori is one of the greatest Asian tennis players ever. He is only the second male Japanese player to break into the ATP top 5 rankings. Nishikori reached a career-high ATP single ranking of World Number 4 in 2015. He became the first Asian man to ever participate in a Grand Slam final when he played Marin Cilic at the 2014 US Open.

Nishikori has won 12 ATP World Tour titles in his career. His highest point, however, came away from the tour. The 33-year-old won the Bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. His win over Rafael Nadal to secure the medal made him the first Olympic tennis medal winner for Japan in 96 years. Though injuries have disrupted his career in recent years, Nishikori is set to return in 2023 and aims to make more history.
