Roger Federer is inarguably one of the greatest players of all time. His records speak for himself and over the years, he has been able to establish himself as one of the icons of the sport. However, just like any other man, he too, would not have reached anywhere if his wife hadn’t supported him in the crucial times.

Federer‘s wife, Miroslava Federer or popularly known by the name of Mirka Federer, was born in Czechoslovakia in 1987. When she was 2-years-old, her family migrated to Switzerland. She is a former tennis player who started playing tennis after watching her idol, Martina Navratilova.

The Swiss Maestro married Mirka in April 2009 after dating her for almost ten years. The marriage ceremony took place at Wenkenhof Villa, Basel- which is near Federer’s hometown.

How did Roger Federer meet Mirka?

20-time grand slam champion Roger and Mirka, both turned pro in 1998. The couple met while competing as a doubles pair at the Sydney Olympics 2000. The two developed some chemistry and they played together once again at the Hopman Cup 2002, representing Switzerland.

Mirka was an exceptional player but she could play professional tennis for only four years. A foot injury forced her to retire in 2002 but she managed to win 3 ITF titles in the singles category and 1 ITF title in the doubles category in her short career. Interestingly, she played all the majors between 1999 to 2001.

As of now, the couple has four children. In 2009, Mirka gave birth to identical twin girls, Charlene Riva and Myla Rose. After five years, she and Roger welcomed another pair of twins, who were boys named Leo and Lenny Federer.

Even now, fans often see Mirka supporting Roger from the stands along with her four kids. Right now, the family resides in Bottmingen, Switzerland.
