Women’s Singles Draw Preview and Prediction

2020 French Open champion Iga Swiatek will headline the top half of the draw and gets a first round bye. She will play either Shuai Zhang or Yulia Putintseva in the Round of 16. Swiatek is drawn alongside 7th seed Elena Rybakina who opens against Veronika Kudermetova. Swiatek and Rybakina are expected to meet in the quarterfinals.

In the bottom quarter of the top half, inform Maria Sakkari gets an opening round bye and could face a tough second round match against Jelena Ostapenko. The Greek is further drawn alongside 5th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who takes on a qualifier in the first round. In an all Czech encounter, Katerina Siniakova faces Tereza Martincova with the winner facing Pavlyuchenkova in the Round of 16. Sakkari or Ostapenko are expected to meet Pavlyuchenkova in the last 8.

Olympic gold medallist and third seed Belinda Bencic would face the winner of Sara Sorribes Tormo vs Anastasia Zakharova in the Round of 16 after getting an opening round bye. 9th seed Paula Badosa opens against Varvara Gracheva and would face either Anett Kontaveit or Sorana Cirstea in the second round. Badosa and Bencic are expected to play in the quarterfinal.

Two in form players, Belinda Bencic and Angelique Kerber will clash in the second semifinal. They both have very similar gamestyle and will look to push each other deep on court to take an upper hand. The match could go down the distance with Bencic just sneaking into the final.
