LeBron James and Kyrie Irving

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are facing a slump this season and there might be good news in the corner. LeBron’s former teammate and Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving has recently demanded a trade from the team. Both LeBron and Kyrie have won a championship in Cleveland in 2016. The Lakers among many teams have emerged as the front runners for acquiring Irving. The 19 x All-Star addressed the question regarding the reunion with his former teammate.

After the Lakers loss to the Pelicans, reporters asked James, if they should make a trade for Irving.  James said that the question was not for him. “That’s a Rob question,” James said Saturday after the Lakers’ 131-126 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. “You got to see him when y’all get back to L.A. I’ve told y’all a couple weeks, I don’t speak for our front office,” he added. He said that his mindset was to make the best of what he has at his hand and make the best of the season. “My mindset is whatever lineup or whatever group that we have is to make sure we prepare ourselves the best way we can to go out and win.

The 4 x league MVP also added that he would obviously want to play with players of Kyrie’s caliber. “Obviously, that’s a — what’s the word you use — ‘duh’ question when you talk about a player like that,” he remarked. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, a trade for Irving would almost certainly require the Lakers to give up both of their first-round picks in 2027 and 2029. This is because other teams, including the Mavericks, Suns, and Clippers, are reportedly preparing trade offers for Brooklyn.

Amidst LeBron James and Kyrie Irving reunion, Russell Westbrook addresses trade questions

Westbrook was labeled as doubtful on Saturday morning due to an illness, which led some people to believe he might hold out in anticipation of a trade. However, he actually played. In 23 minutes, he recorded 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting, four rebounds, and four assists. Only one minute of his time came in the fourth quarter as Lakers coach Darvin Ham benched him for the final few minutes.

After being mentioned in numerous trade discussions both in the offseason and in the run-up to the trade deadline last season. Westbrook was asked if he feels any pressured listening to his name in potential trades once more. “I do not,” he said. “That’s not up to me. Like I said, I’ve known this was a business since I was 18, 19 years old…and people make whatever decision they make. And I’ll make sure I’m ready and professional, like I always have been and always will be,said Westbrook.
