The 49-year-old has been out of action since his Achilles surgery in March. After withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational due to the passing of his mother, Kultida Woods, the golfer was trying to get in shape for the Masters Tournament.

During these preparations, he would rupture his Achilles tendon. He was forced to undergo surgery regarding this, which ruled him out for the entirety of the season.

In June, Woods was spotted at a golf course. He was seen in a cart cheering for his son, Charlie Woods, who was participating in the 108th Florida Amateur Championship.

On Monday, Woods was in Philadelphia as he celebrated the opening of his second TGR Learning Lab. He would then fly to New York for the Nexus Cup. It was at the Liberty National, where the former World No.1 was seen hitting golf balls.

In a video that has gone viral on X, Woods could be seen swinging his golf clubs. He was reported to be hitting wedge shots beside Will Zalatoris, who himself is recovering from back surgery.

The golf great did play golf this year. He would represent his team, Jupiter Links GC, in the inaugural edition of the TGL. His team, however, managed to win just 1 game and missed the playoffs.

Woods will turn 50 in December 2025. This would make him eligible to play on the PGA Champions Tour, the senior tour. In this circuit, he will get to ride a golf cart instead of walking all 18 holes.

While speaking with the Palm Beach Post, 4-time major champion Ernie Els claimed that the Champions Tour could help Woods remain in shape and be beneficial for him.

I think it can only be beneficial to him. He will get himself in golf shape. You can ride a cart without any shame and if there was one guy that should be able to drive a cart, it’s him. And he can get his a** back in shape. Beat us again…if you can.

Ernie Els said

Woods’ former caddie, Joe LaCava, in 2024, expressed that the addition of him to the senior tour could be a “great boost” to them. Only time will tell whether Woods will take up on Els’ advice and join him and some of his other former rivals on the senior circuit.
