Toby Alderweireld signs for Qatari side Al-Duhail SC from Tottenham

Qatar Stars League club Al-Duhail SC have roped in the services of Belgian player Toby Alderweireld from the English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
Toby Alderweireld started his senior career with Ajax and represented the club between 2007 – 2013. He scored seven goals in 128 matches for the Dutch outfit before making a switch to Atletico Madrid FC. He found the net once in 12 matches during one season.
He stayed with the club for a couple of seasons but was loaned out to Southampton FC during Premier League 2014/15. He played 26 games for the English side during his loan stint with them. In 2015, Toby signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur. The Belgian defender played a whopping number of 174 matches for the North-London-based club.
In 174 appearances, he found the net eight times for the Spurs and was their key defender over the last few years. The Qatari club have bolstered their defence unit by signing the 32-year-old Toby Alderweireld. The oppositions will struggle to get the ball past him.
Al Duhail SC finished second in the Qatar Stars League 2020/21. They finished the season with 47 points, having won 15 matches and lost five games. A couple of matches ended in draws last season. The Qatari club scored 53 goals and conceded 25 goals during the last edition of the domestic league.
With the addition of Toby, they will look to concede fewer goals in the upcoming edition of the Qatar Stars League. The club will be eyeing to finish atop the table and bag the trophy. In addition, they will look to win Qatar’s domestic cup competitions too.

The Belgian player has played 133 matches for his national side to date. He made his debut in 2009 and has found the net five times so far. He is a key player for the Belgian national side and will look to continue providing them with his excellent services in the future as well.
