Jon Jones is in the final stretch as a UFC fighter, and fans are eager to see him back in action. With the current landscape of the heavyweight division, interim champion Tom Aspinall stands out as the most deserving challenger for ‘Bones.’ However, the undisputed champion continues to delay his return, leaving Aspinall in a frustrating waiting game.

The British heavyweight talent has been lobbying for the title for more than a year now, trying his much-deserved title shot. He is currently the second-longest reigning interim champion in UFC history, holding the title for more than 400 days. In order to get better results, Jones’ former rival, Daniel Cormier, has shared his practical suggestion.

It’s one thing that you can make him lock on that makes him feel disrespected, angry, and mad. His attention is solely focused on you, and nothing can stop him from fighting you. Once you piss him off, the only thing on his mind is to try to get you.

Cormier has faced Jones on two different occasions, sharing one of the most vicious rivalries in the history of UFC. Both fighters genuinely hated each other and crossed all the limits during the verbal exchanges. Though Cormier lost both the fights, he was able to push Jones to the limit with his trash-talking.

Jones was also caught using steroids during their fight, which has become a stain in his UFC career. Till now, many fans use the incident against him with DC still poking fun at the fighter, given an opportunity. While DC’s advice comes from experience, it is safe to say that Aspinall is already aware of this. 

Last year, Tom Aspinall did his best to get into Jones’s head by trolling and poking fun at the legendary fighter. The British star accused Jones of ducking, a narrative that got support from many fight fans. However, there is always a way for Aspinall to push Jones more, disrespecting and challenging his ego.

Jon Jones’s last outing was at UFC 309, where the American fighter beat heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic via TKO. After the fight, UFC CEO Dana White promised that Jones vs. Tom Aspinall was the next big fight. Till now, there have been no updates about the bout. According to Aspinall, he is ready and the only delay is currently from Jones’ side.

As expected, many fight fans are frustrated, blaming the UFC for wasting Tom Aspinall’s prime years. Public sentiment toward Jon Jones has also turned negative, with critics accusing him of stalling the division. Recently, Aspinall’s father echoed these frustrations, taking shots at Jones over the situation.

For me, if the guy doesn’t want to fight for the belt, vacate it. Tom is not bothered about fighting Jon Jones. Jon is just another body in the gym, another bum in the shower.

Jones takes immense pride in his legendary resume, boasting the most title defenses in UFC history, and solidified his status as an all-time great. However, facing Aspinall presents a significant challenge, as a loss could tarnish Jones’ legacy and shake up the heavyweight division.
