Since the season started, Travis Kelce has been facing intense scrutiny following his underwhelming performance over the past three games. Amid the criticism and backlash, few prominent analysts still believe in the tight end, as these few games don’t define him as a player.
One of the biggest downsides of Kelce’s slow start has been his struggle to connect with quarterback Patrick Mahomes– the duo that broke records together last season. Although Kelce’s performance hasn’t significantly affected the team’s overall success, the Chiefs will need him at his best to achieve the historic three-peat.
While speaking on the subject, Fox Sports lead analyst Tom Brady showed his support for the Kansas City Chiefs star tight end. He believes Kelce will find a way to have his comeback and as far as the Chiefs are concerned, they remain as strong a Super Bowl contender as they were before.
That’s why, the former legendary quarterback placed the Chiefs at the top in his power rankings. Brady also expressed his faith in Mahomes and Kelce’s legendary duo that they will indeed overcome these early-season struggles.
Besides Mahomes and Kelce, the seven-time Super Bowl champion also praised wide receiver Rashee Rice, who has built an impressive connection with the superstar quarterback, and Carson Steele who is filling in for Isiah Pacheco because of his injury.
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes show support to Travis Kelce amid criticism
While the nine-time Pro Bowler is getting heat from everywhere else, the Chiefs haven’t left his side during his time of struggle. Head Coach Andy Reid and Mahomes spoke to the media in Kelce’s defense, showing their support for the star player.
Lately, Kelce has been more focused on leading his team to the Super Bowl, instead of his individual stats. That’s why, he recorded his first season without exceeding the 1,000-yard mark since 2015, but he played a significant role in Kansas City’s second consecutive Super Bowl triumph.
