Minecraft has a variety of mobs that roam the vast sand-box world of the game and one of the smaller ones are the Bees in Minecraft. They are one of the smallest mobs in the game but players should not underestimate their utility.

Bees were introduced fairly recently and many new features have been added since that solidifies their place in the game as one of the most useful mobs. They are small yellow and black insectoid winged creatures which are neutral towards the players and are the only source of honey.

Pollination

Bees have a special feature that allows them to pollinate other crops if they are flying over them. This occurs when a Bee is roaming and finds a flower, and collects some nectar. There will be yellow particles dropping from the Bee and if a Bee flies over growing wheat, potato, carrot, beetroot, melon, pumpkin or berry plants, they will get one stage of growth.

However, for this to occur the yellow pollen needs to make direct contact with the plant. A single plant can be pollinated up to 10 times.

Only source of Honey

The introduction of Bees also meant the introduction of the new item in the game, Honey. Honey has a variety of uses in the game and the Beehives and Bee Nests are the only source for them.

This is practically one of the top uses for Bees in Minecraft as they are the only mob capable of producing this item in the game. Players can collect honey from a filled Bee hive or Bee Nest with a Glass Bottle. However, if you do not want to anger the bees while doing this, it would be wise to light a Campfire below the Beehive or Bee nest.

Honeycombs

Just like Honey, the Beehives and Bee Nests are the only source of the Honeycomb item. The Honeycomb can be obtained by using a pair of Shears on the Bee Nest or a Beehive. However, this can anger the Bees, so players need to be careful.

The Honeycomb can be used to make candles, waxed copper blocks, Bee Hives and more!

Great decorative pet

Bees are a great pet to have nearby as they are attracted to flowers. The Bee cannot be made into a pet but will follow the player if they have a flower in their hand. Players can also make a Bee Hive using honeycombs to make their own Bee Farm.

The garden can be decorated with flowers, berries and a Bee Hive to make a beautiful bee farm in the game.

Attacking other mobs

Bees are a neutral mob and they maintain this against all the mobs. Therefore, if they are attacked first, they will waste no time in retaliating the attacker. Therefore, players can use them to fight off other mobs by making the hostile mob hit the bees somehow.

The Bees also apply poison which will give a good amount of damage to the attacked mob. However, players need to keep in mind that a Bee will only attack once and then die.
