Cody Rhodes pitched to Triple H the idea of wearing an eye patch on WWE television to cover his gnarly-looking eye injury that he sustained while wrestling Randy Orton at WrestleMania. The idea didn’t get the nod from the WWE Chief Content Officer, as revealed by Rhodes himself on ESPN‘s SportsCenter.
‘The American Nightmare’ thought it’d look cool, and they could even roll out action figures later on featuring Rhodes in an eye patch. However, the ‘King of Kings’ told him, “Absolutely not,” in response. ‘The QB1’ said a clip of him throwing the eyepatch backstage might end up on WWE Unreal someday.

“I’ll tell you something funny. I thought, ‘I’m gonna go to TV, I’m gonna go to Monday Night RAW, I’m gonna go to Friday Night SmackDown, I’m gonna do an eyepatch thing.’ I thought that’d be… pic.twitter.com/7FCdPXHBKV
His left eye was a total mess when he came out on Raw after WrestleMania to confront CM Punk. A few days later on SmackDown, the severity of the wound had seemingly abated. And as seen in his latest in-studio appearance for ESPN, the swelling is gone, and he’s only left with mild scars.
Rhodes updated his fans on his eye a few days ago by revealing that the doctors told him he wouldn’t lose his eye. At first, there was genuine fear within WWE about Rhodes’ condition and it forcing him to relinquish the world title. Speaking of his poorly received feud thus far with Randy Orton, the Pat McAfee element is finally out of the way.
Even though ‘The Prodigal Son’ pinned Orton’s shoulders to the mat at WrestleMania, ‘The Viper’ ultimately used the Punt kick. It was clearly a sign that their feud was not over just yet. ‘The American Nightmare’ cut a promo on last week’s SmackDown, mentioning how the student overcame his teacher.
He also affirmed getting right back up and walking to the back on his own despite eating that menacing punt to the side of his head. Orton wasn’t on the show, and one could expect him to drop Rhodes with a surprise RKO once the champ gets the medical clearance. The fans are not anticipating Rhodes vs. Orton at Backlash, but this match certainly has a fair shot of taking place overseas at Clash in Italy.
Nick Khan reveals that Triple H has extended his term of employment with WWE
Triple H has been subject to valid criticism pertaining to his creative vision and questionable booking decisions. Once hailed as the ideal successor to Vince McMahon‘s worn-out ideas, his son-in-law has become synonymous with polarizing over the past couple of years.

Despite taking a noticeable dip in his standing as a competent wrestling booker, Triple H will remain in his role as the head of WWE creative. It was confirmed during a town hall on Monday by WWE president Nick Khan, as per Post Wrestling. The latter also revealed that Triple H had his employment term extended with WWE and will continue to render his services for the years to come.

Khan indicated Levesque has been re-signed "in a multiyear deal."
Khan going through and discounting a series of past online criticisms are also now quoted in the article.https://t.co/wT4laZat62 https://t.co/79AWx5rVw6
Mr. Khan also pushed back on recent criticism of the WWE product being marred by over-commercialization and creative direction. Nick downplayed that sentiment by saying that it’s coming from a vocal minority. An update from BodySlam has revealed that the higher-ups at TKO are happy with the way Triple H has led WWE as head of creative.
TKO is happy with the work that Paul Levesque has done with creative, despite some backlash regarding TKO getting involved multiple years in a row on the Road to WrestleMania.

There was a lot of fuss regarding an internal cold war going on between the ‘Cerebral Assassin’ and TKO over the latter passing down edicts for major storylines around WrestleMania. The most recent instance being the interjection of Pat McAfee into the Cody Rhodes/Randy Orton storyline that the fans passionately disliked.
