“Saving on the budget?” Twitter gets upset over Red Bull’s fan-designed Miami GP livery, claims it is the same but in ‘bubblegum’ colors
Red Bull has revealed their fan-designed livery for the Miami GP but F1 Twitter is not happy with the results.
The Miami GP is right around the corner, and Red Bull revealed the first surprise of this week with a temporary livery designed by one of their fans. At a special ceremony ahead of the Florida race, the Milton-Keynes-based team gave a sneak peek at the car which Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will race with in the upcoming weekend. This will be RBR’s first of three temporary liveries planned for this year.
At the beginning of the 2019 season, Red Bull had announced a competition called ‘Make Your Mark’ for getting their fans involved at the time of the RB-19 launch. They urged all the creative minds in their fanbase to send their designs to the team, so that they could select the best three to make custom liveries which will be seen at three different Grands Prix this year. After the Miami GP, Red Bull will run their second and third temporary liveries at the Austin GP and Las Vegas GP respectively.
While unveiling their livery for the Miami GP, it was announced that the winning design had been made by an Argentinian student named Martina Andriano. Speaking on the ‘Make Your Mark’ initiative, Christian Horner said, “The Make Your Mark initiative is great, to give our fans the opportunity to influence our design at the three USA races is something you just don’t see other teams doing. It’s important to the Team to be able to involve our fans in what we do and give them unique opportunities like this.”

Fans are not happy with the custom livery that Red Bull chose for their Miami GP weekend
Even though Red Bull wanted to connect to their fans by announcing that they will race in a fan-designed livery at the Miami GP, most of them are not happy with the design the team picked. As soon as the curtain-raiser was held, Twitter got flooded with fans commenting that it is a boring design, and some even said Red Bull must be going through some budget issues, so they have chosen the design that requires the least amount of paint. Here is what the F1 Twitter community has to say about Red Bull’s Miami livery–
In other news, the Miami GP will play a big role in determing how the rest of the season will turn out for Red Bull. Currently, their two drivers are only six points apart in the World Championship standings, and if Sergio Perez wins this weekend, then he will come to the lead for the first time in his F1 career.
