“We ended up making Brian Ortega urinal cakes” – Alexander Volkanovski reveals some of the pranks that didn’t make the final cut

Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega
Only a month left until Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega square off inside the Octagon. The pair will be headlining UFC 266 which is set to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada on the 25th of September. They were set to fight way back at UFC 260, but Volkanovski tested positive for COVID-19 and the fight had to be moved to UFC 266. The battle of the coaches – Return of the Ultimate Fighter: Team Volkanovski vs. Team Ortega might have a lot of bad blood going into the fight.
In a recent interview with Karyn Bryant of UFC, Volkanovski talked about how successful his team has been in TUF 29. Almost all of his members have made it to the finals of TUF 29. He then revealed how a lot of pranks he performed on Ortega were removed as a part of the final cut. ‘The Great’ claimed that his pranks would have looked miles better than Ortega’s.
The pranks that made the final cut were: Ortega removing tires from Volk’s car, and also leaving snakes in the featherweight champion’s locker room. Alexander Volkanovski’s prank was filling Ortega’s room with clocks. He then went on to reveal all the pranks that were cut from the show.
“People don’t really get our Aussie humor” – Alexander Volkanovski
Volkanovski was quoted as saying, “There was another one we did that didn’t make the cut – maybe because people don’t really get our Aussie humor or maybe Ortega didn’t like it – we ended up making Brian Ortega urinal cakes. So we did that at the end of the show and put them all through the APEX. Literal urinal cakes with Brian Ortega’s head on it after his fight with Max (Holloway) so it was all busted up. So we put that all through the APEX for a bit of a laugh. It wasn’t personal but I think he might have took that to heart so they didn’t air it.” [MMA Fighting]
He continued, “Me and Craig Jones were stirring him up the whole time. We were pretending to take leaks on the Team Ortega signs, on his posters, on his car because we weren’t allowed to mess with his car so we’d take photos and post it just to get under his skin. So then we thought we take ‘taking the piss’ to a whole other level by making the urinal cakes. And as I said to him, the closest he’s gonna get to gold is a golden shower.” [MMA Fighting]
Volkanovski is coming off a win over Max Holloway at UFC 251. It was a rematch for the featherweight title. He had won his title against Holloway as well, which was at UFC 245. The Australian is 9-0 in the UFC, and has an MMA record of 22 wins and just one loss.
Ortega, on the other hand, last beat Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs Zombie in October 2020. Had he not been injured in 2018, he would have been the one who would have fought Volkanovski for the title. However, here he is, hoping to strike rich, next month.
