Aljamain Sterling wins the heart of many as he puts out a parody music video to troll his rival Petr Yan at the World MMA Awards 2021.
The 2021 World MMA Awards took place on Friday at the Worre Studios in Las Vegas. The annual award ceremony event puts the best performances in the Mixed Martial Arts world from the entire year of 2021 on a grand pedestal. There were some huge names present live at the awards but UFC’s current bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling stole the show.
The “Funkmaster” was crowned the bantamweight champion in 2021 at UFC 259. The fighter became the only fighter to win a title fight via DQ. His opponent, Petr Yan was disqualified due to an illegal knee during the fight. The fight happened on the 7th of March 2021 and Aljo has not fought since.
Since then, Aljamain has been on a rollercoaster ride. From fans, peers, and experts mocking for winning a belt in such a fashion to the champ himself making jokes about his win.
At the MMA awards, Aljamain was put on the big screen where he trolled his Russian rival by being part of a parody video that mocked Yan’s illegal knee. Twitter and the audience at the awards had an absolute blast as they were caught off-guard with Sterling’s troll game. Sterling’s music troll video had some of the funniest lyrics. The catch of the song was “Don’t knee and hurt me baby I was on the ground.” Most of Twitter was appreciative of Sterling being a sport after all the drama surrounding him winning the belt. “Didn’t get the chance to stop the hurt around me, Sorry you had to lose What was I supposed to do I had good intentions And the highest of hopes But I know no more 27 spinning elbows,” sang Sterling.
