Belal Muhammad calls out Jorge Masvidal

The updated UFC rankings are out and welterweight fighter Belal Muhammad is on cloud nine. The “Bully” has just jumped 5 spots and called out UFC’s superstar Jorge Masvidal.

Belal Muhammad has finally made his way to the top five welterweights in the world and deservedly so. “Remember the Name” has made sure that he climbs the rankings by the end of the year by taking four fights in 2021. Muhammad has a record of 20-3-0 in his entire professional career.

Belal is coming off a very dominant win against former title challenger Stephen Thompson at UFC Vegas 45. Thompson was ranked at #5 until Muhammad smashed him for three rounds and won via unanimous decision. Beating Thompson was a huge statement for Belal as he extends his winning streak to five fights. The last time he lost was against Geoff Neal in 2019.

In a recent tweet boasting his bump in rankings, Belal wrote, “top 5 in the world…how’s ur rib feeling @GamebredFighter.” Muhammad has been trying to get a matchup with a UFC superstar and this might be his chance. With how stacked the welterweight division is, Belal has called out a fighter that he just passed on the ranking list, Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal is coming off two successive title fight defeats and has fought in the octagon since UFC 261 in April 2021. “Gamebred” was scheduled to fight Leon Edwards at UFC 269 but the fighter from Florida pulled out owing to an injury. Muhammad is ready to take on Masvidal if he is fit to fight. Though Belal is all in to fight Masvidal, the likes of this fight happening are very few.

Masvidal is already in talks for being a coach in the new season of Ultimate Fighter paired against his nemesis, Colby Covington. If Belal wants to get to the champion, Usman, he would have to beat the likes of Gilbert Burns, Leon Edwards, and Vicente Luque. What do you think is next for the “Bully”?
