“You’re putting the belt up,” Chael Sonnen reveals why Julianna Pena should demand a rematch against Amanda Nunes at 145lbs instead of 135lbs

The UFC women’s Bantamweight champion, Julianna Pena shocked the whole world when she defeated the former UFC two-division champion, Amanda Nunes at the co-main event of UFC 269. Pena submitted Nunes via rear-naked choke in the second round and created one of the biggest upsets in UFC Title Fights history.
Although, in the post-fight interview, Pena agreed to give a rematch to Nunes and defend her title for the first time against ‘The Lioness’. The UFC president Dana White also admitted at UFC 269 post-fight press conference that Amanda Nunes is the rightful owner of the rematch, but the former UFC title challenger, Chael Sonnen believes Nunes should put her Featherweight title on the line for the rematch, instead of Pena putting her Bantamweight title on the line.
Talking about Nunes vs Pena 2 in his latest Youtube video, Chael Sonnen says, “In the rematch of Julianna vs Nunes, the odds came out and Amanda is a four to one favorite which is always a head-scratcher, I mean odds are very significant, you come out and you say when it’s meaningful. So the fact that Amanda is four to one favorite over the champion who just smoked her, at least to me it’s interesting.”
“Here’s is what I realized this morning, it is going to be a rematch at 135, which means Julianna’s belt is going up, which I don’t believe what are you talking about, why Julianna would put her belt up. She must say, Hey, Amanda I’ll meet you halfway. I’ll give you a shot at redemption but we’ll be doing it 145, you’re putting the belt up.”
Chael Sonnen is all praise for Kayla Harrison to target a fight directly against Amanda Nunes
Amanda Nunes entered the Octagon to defend her women’s Bantamweight title last in 2019 and she admitted that it is getting difficult for her to make 135. During this fight, the PFL women’s Lightweight champion, Kayla Harrison was also present at the ringside. She is a free agent right now and Dana White is admitting to giving her an immediate shot against Nunes if she signs with UFC.
According to Chael Sonnen, she was the smartest player in this women’s match fix-ups, Sonnen added, “I think there is some chess to be played for the first time ever in female’s mixed martial arts, this is going to be a game of checkers from jump street. This all comes back to Kayla Harrison because she is doing everything right, Kayla Harrison has stars written all over on her.”
“She has never fought in UFC and Dana White went as far to say that I’ll bring her to UFC and I’ll put her right away with Amanda Nunes. This is going to be a massive fight and when you can do a massive fight with someone in their first fight at UFC, that person is special, which is why Kayla Harrison is special. She aligned all her canons in the right direction which was at 145 directed towards Amanda.”
