“Henry Cejudo is making a real transition”- Chael Sonnen believes ‘Triple C’ is making waves as a coach
Chael Sonnen on Henry Cejudo and Jon Jones training
Chael Sonnen is more than impressed with former UFC double champ, Henry Cejudo coaching elite fighters in his gym.
Henry Cejudo is a former two-division champion and also an Olympic wrestler. The fighter retired from professional fighting but did not stop training. Cejudo, who trains in Arizona has already made his coaching debut with former strawweight champion Zhang Weili at UFC 268. ‘Triple-C’ helped train the Chinese fighter for her rematch against Rose Namajunas.
Cejudo has now taken the legendary Jon Jones under his wing since the former light heavyweight champion’s departure from his old gym in Albuquerque. The fighter joined Cejudo’s gym and has said that the former double-champ is helping him train for his heavyweight debut after a lot of chaos involving his personal life. UFC legend Chael Sonnen is impressed with Cejudo’s transition to coaching.
Chael Sonnen believes we might see a new Jon Jones under Henry Cejudo
“He was really training Weili…Henry was actually game planning, sitting down with Weili, showing up multiple times a day, pushing her to a new level,” said Chael on Cejudo and Zhang Weili’s partnership. “And now Henry is doing that with Jon Jones. Henry Cejudo is making a real transition here.” Several pictures and videos have surfaced on the internet where Jones is training with Cejudo and taking advice from ‘Triple C’.
Chael praises Cejudo for actually being able to control Jones in that aspect as the legend believes Jones is not one to listen to other people. Henry has publicly said that he will hold Jones accountable for all his misdemeanors in the past outside the octagon and promises to bring back the champ together.
What do you think about team Cejudo and Jon? Do you think Jones can get his act back together and have a successful run in the UFC heavyweight division?
