“We’ll see what happens” – UFC President Dana White set to meet with Gable Steveson

Gable Steveson has the entire MMA community looking at him now. The wrestler from Minnesota University won the Gold medal in the men’s freestyle wrestling, 125kg category by defeating three-time world champion Geno Petriashvili. Barring the finals, the dominant American had coasted to the finals of the competition. In the finals, he turned the game around in dramatic fashion to bring laurels to his nation.
His presence and impact earned him worldwide recognition, catching the eye of the members of the MMA Community. Talks of Gable Steveson signing with notable promotions like UFC, WWE and AEW began.
In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, UFC President Dana White revealed that he would be meeting Steveson this week in Los Angeles and work out things for the future. White also acknowledged the fact that several wrestlers have become very successful in the UFC.

White was quoted as saying, “Well obviously wrestling is a massive base in the UFC, a lot of great wrestlers — including Olympics — have come and done big things here, so I’m looking at all the guys. We’re very supportive of Olympic wrestling. He’ll be in town this weekend and I think we’re gonna hook up and talk. Obviously there’s a lot of work for him to do before he could make it to the UFC but we’ll see what happens.” [via MMA Mania]
Some of the well-known wrestlers who have gone on to become champions in the UFC are Brock Lesnar, Daniel Cormier and Henry Cejudo. While Lesnar was a collegiate level wrestler and a part of the WWE, Cormier and Cejudo were Olympians. Cejudo also won the Gold medal in Beijing 2008.
No sooner did Lesnar arrive in the UFC, he became a force to be reckoned with. He went on to become the UFC Heavyweight champion in double-quick time. Cormier, on the other hand, has held two belts- the heavyweight belt and the light-heavyweight belt. He was a special fighter, and barring Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, no one came close to defeating DC.
As dominant as Cejudo was in freestyle wrestling he was in UFC as well. ‘Triple C’ as he is known, became a two-division champion after beating Marlon Moraes at UFC 238 – held the Bantamweight and Flyweight title.
