Gilbert Burns vs Khamzat Chimaev
Khamzat Chimaev has been raising storm ever since his arrival, his last victory over Li Jingliang at UFC 267 was very impressive, and it’s hard to believe that someone that do that to a top-level athlete like Li. He literally picked him up in the air, and carried him over to the other side of the octagon, only to choke him out.
He called out everyone on the roster after this impressive victory, but Neil Magny and Gilbert Burns were the only ones to respond to the challenge. Khamzat recently scared a screenshot of his conversation with Burns, and these two accepted the fight as soon as possible.

Everyone is really excited about this fight but UFC legend and analyst Chael Sonnen presents different views on the topic, in his recent YouTube video, he said, “I’m light on the idea of Gilbert Burns, I’m light on it. I’m light on it because I don’t see how Gilbert Burns raising his hand creates anything different from the other three guys that I just named for you, Muhammad, Neil Magny. I don’t see what it is that Gilbert brings to the table that is anything different, other than one hell of a big problem to deal with.”
Sonnen added, “Burns is a straight-up hammer, maybe Chimaev is too. But I’m still light on the idea, I am. I know you guys are seeing headlines everywhere, Burns vs Chimaev in April. I’m here to tell you, that’s according to Gilbert and Chimaev, I would also remind you, you’re going to be very hard-pressed and it’s going to be slim picking to you to give me examples historically within the UFC, where fighters and social media made fights.”
Sonnen concluded his views by asking the UFC, Why aren’t they making it official? “That’s just now how it works, and the biggest piece of story that is interesting to me, again from a purely nosy.. being a little bit snoopy curious standpoint, What is the holdup?”
