Sean Strickland went on the Joe Rogan Experience and grabbed headlines with his controversial personality. He discussed the situation in the US and told Joe Rogan why the foreign fighters were dominating the UFC. The sport of MMA has more foreign fighters in the UFC compared to most sports. Strickland indicated that the pay structure in the UFC does not benefit American fighters. He used the league minimum of the National Football League (NFL) as an example to demonstrate his points.

Strickland said, “If there was NFL money in the UFC, we (Americans) would dominate the UFC. There would not be one fu**ing foreign champion.” The middleweight fighter claimed that Division 1 wrestlers would chase a career in the UFC if the base pay became more than just 10k to participate and 10k to win. Strickland continued, “You only need to have f**k up, one slip up, one mistake, two bad losses, or an injury. We are prostitutes. We take our clothes off and fight a fan, it’s like porn.”

Rogan and Strickland discussed the cost of living in the US more than in any other country. Hence, fighters from Brazil, Dagestan, and other countries do not mind fighting on a 10k + 10k contract. However, it remains insufficient for fighters in America. Money in NFL remains better compared to the UFC.

In recent times, foreign fighters have held championship belts in the UFC. Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Israel Adesanya, Islam Makhachev, and Alexander Volkanovski are some of the best examples. Strickland claimed there might be a disconnect in the monetary benefits of pursuing a career in the UFC, and it could be true.

Middleweight contender Sean Strickland took shots at champion Israel Adesanya on the JRE. After watching UFC 290, he attacked both Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis for their cringe-worthy moment inside the octagon.

Strickland went on Twitter to criticize the African fighters. He wrote, “Guarantee Izzy and Dricus are fucking after they fight. The UFC is really starting to look like a pride commercial…” Sean Strickland has a history of going after the LGBTQ+ community and did not appreciate the antics he saw at UFC 290.

Dricus and Adesanya will soon compete for the middleweight title. The fight is likely to happen in Australia. It could be a legacy-defining moment for both fighters. Meanwhile, Strickland will likely fight another contender in the division.
