Georges St-Pierre is regarded as one of the greatest MMA fighters to step inside the octagon. The Canadian is a former two-division champion and has defended his title multiple times. GSP has a massive fan base and receives a lot of respect from MMA fans. While some showed it by shouting his name inside the octagon, others built statues to prove his greatness.
Back in 2021, in St-Pierre’s hometown of St-Isidore, Quebec, Canada, a statue of him was unveiled. The full-body statue was a point in showcasing the physique of the legendary fighter. However, many could easily see the similarities of the statue’s face with the 44th President of America, Barack Obama.
Regardless, GSP was extremely proud and grateful while inaugurating the statue. He even posed beside the statue, the pictures of which have since gone viral. St-Pierre’s last UFC bout was at UFC 217, where he fought Michael Bisping and won the middleweight title. After that, he left the promotion, finishing his glorious career on a high.

While many legends struggled to end their careers at the perfect time, GSP’s case was different. He left the sport before the sport left him. However, he still maintains the same popularity and is a global ambassador of the sport. His career both inside and outside the octagon makes him the true representation of the GOAT of MMA.
Fight fans react to Georges St-Pierre’s statue
Georges St-Pierre’s UFC legacy is one of dominance, skill, and professionalism. He revolutionized MMA with strategic fighting, elite wrestling, and adaptability. With nine title defenses, avenged losses, and a historic middleweight comeback, GSP set the gold standard for greatness. He has inspired a generation of future fighters to try their luck and chase greatness in MMA.

Other than that, GSP was also a pay-per-view star, and CEO Dana White loved working with him and earning millions of dollars. St-Pierre was interested in coming back from retirement to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov, but, unfortunately, that never happened. Nevertheless, here are some reactions from fans on GSP’s viral statue images.
